International Metaphysical Ministry University System (IMM)

University of Metaphysics and the University of Sedona

The University of Metaphysics and the University of Sedona are private, post-secondary, distance learning, theological schools operating under the auspices of the International Metaphysical Ministry. The IMM is a non-profit, religious exempt organization as designated by the Internal Revenue Service of the United States. The curriculum of both Universities is strictly non-secular and theological in nature – in the Holistic New Thought Transcendent branch of Metaphysical Theology.

Both the University of Metaphysics and the University of Sedona have a history, as teaching institutions, of over five and a half decades. This history can be traced to various educational and research facilities. Today, each university stands alone as an independent entity. Under the guidance and leadership of Dr. Paul Leon Masters, the University of Metaphysics applied for and was granted the legal right to award non-secular degrees up to Doctoral or Ph.D. level in 1976. In 2003, the University of Sedona began operating under the same legal right in the state of Arizona.

Each university has its own unique accelerated doctoral degree program. In addition, the University of Metaphysics provides an accelerated undergraduate studies program that services both schools. Thus, students enrolling in a doctoral program with the University of Sedona will receive their bachelor’s degree, practitioner’s diploma, ministerial diploma, ministerial ordination, and master’s degree through the University of Metaphysics. Their doctoral degree will be awarded from the University of Sedona.

Since both universities are totally focused on a Holistic, New Thought, Transcendent, Theological curriculum, they each legally exist beyond the scope of the United States Higher Education Act of 1965. As there is no official agency governing metaphysical education in the US, the IMM voluntarily maintains extensive oversight, quality control, and critical evaluation of the universities’ activities and curriculum. The IMM ensures that both universities’ academic standards are at least equal to that of most secular post-secondary educational institutions within the US. This standard is ensured through exam and thesis/dissertation review.

The IMM has over fifty-five years of service and experience in the private, post-secondary religious field. The IMM has students and graduates in the United States along with 120 other countries internationally. There are over 5,000 active ministries under the IMM. This is no small task as the IMM respects the individuality and independence of its graduates, ministers, and teachers. The IMM places no restrictions in the naming of a graduate’s endeavors. Ministers and teachers are granted great latitude in how they teach, and even the nature of their teachings. The IMM encourages independent research, points of view, and the use of individual talents and modalities. The only requirement is that its ministers and teachers stay true to the basic precepts of their education and the founder.

The IMM believes its name and any designs or marks of the University of Metaphysics and the University of Sedona have achieved a distinct and unique placement in the world’s informational and commercial media. The IMM has and will continue to protect these rights.

It is the goal of the IMM University System to ensure that our graduates will always be able to take pride in their alma mater and be able to say with integrity and confidence, “I received my doctoral degree from the most prominent, well respected Metaphysical University in the world.”
