Dr. Donald Tate, Msc. D.
Donald grew up in Eatonville, a small town in Central Florida. Like many children, he was a victim of emotional, verbal/physical abuse, and bullying. One day, he told his mother about a particular instance of harsh verbal and physical abuse by his classmates, and he expected her to do something immediately to stop it. Instead, she shocked him with this statement: “If they’re not talking about you, you’re not doing something right.”
It dawned on Donald later that she was dealing with a higher truth, exposing him to a powerful gift that helped him both then and later in life. Bullies never died. They just grew up and became our bosses, co-workers, and even our spouses and children. The real challenge was not what they thought about him, or even what they did to him. It was how he thought about himself and how proactive or reactive he was in uncomfortable situations.
Perhaps Victor Frankl put it best when he said, “Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms–to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”
Donald believed it was more effective to accept responsibility for a problem before trying to solve it; conversely, he also understood that he could not solve a problem by claiming no ownership of it, or simply fixing others.
This realization was pivotal in his young life, and led him to be open to the wisdom of his college mentor, who was extremely knowledgeable about the facets of human behavior. Donald thirsted for a deeper understanding of himself and of those who were impacting his life. Donald completed his doctorate at the University of Sedona in Arizona. He gained that deeper awareness through The Hindu University of America, when he traveled to India to experience the philosophical ideology of Ayurveda, which literally means the life of knowledge.
Donald life’s passion has become his career choice, and he is here to offer others a way to live life in as close to perfect balance as is possible. This led him to launch Dr. Donald Tate & Associates.
